Training Overview
Learn the basics to in-depth technical bearing knowledge facilitated by Koyo’s highly experienced and skilled Bearing Technicians and Engineers.
Speakers
- Thomas Green, Technical Trainer, has worked for JTEKT for over 13 years and was with another top-tier bearing manufacturer for 22 years. He has over 30 years of experience as a public trainer and 35 years bearing industry experience as an Application/Field Service Engineering Technologist.
- Lou Perez, Technical Trainer, has over 7 years with JTEKT accumulating 20 years with the bearing and PT industry. Lou is very-well known and respected in the Steel Mill industry where he uses and shares his “extensive” bearing knowledge with others in this specialized field.
- Chad Blaker, Technical Trainer, has over 8 years experience with JTEKT, and a total of 28 year’s industry experience as a Field Service Engineering Technician. Chad also has over 10 years of bearing manufacturing experience, ranging from heat treat, face, OD and centerless raceway grind procedures along with multi bearing type assembly systems.
- Cory Beck, Technical Trainer, has over 6 years with JTEKT in the bearing and PT industry where he has a passion for all mechanical equipment. As a professional in the bearing industry, he has had the opportunity to work with all types of industrial and automotive applications. Including but not limited to, electric motors, pumps, steel mill, compressors, gearboxes, motorcycles, medical equipment and more.
- Jose Ortega, Technical Trainer, has over 9 years with JTEKT as a public trainer and as a Field Service/Application Engineer. For the past 25 years, he has worked passionately as a Field Service Engineer and Process Engineer in several manufacturing industries throughout Mexico providing technical assistance to well-known steel mills and other industries.

- 1:45 pm - Proper Bearing Installation Spherical Roller Bearings with Tapered ( K ) bore and Self Aligning Ball Bearings with Tapered ( K ) bore – Mounting Exercises

- 4:15 pm - Mounting Needle Roller Bearings – Directly on shaft with or without an inner-ring. Discussion on Caged style vs Full Complement style.

Day 3
- 8:30 am - Pillow Block Housings and components Mounted Ball & Roller Units
- 9:15 am - Maintenance and Condition Monitoring Heat Thermography & Shaft Alignment

- 10:15 am - Lubrication – Grease quantities and re-lubrication intervals ( how much & how often ).Lubrication systems and common bearing greases used in the industry. Calculation exercises.
- 11:30 am - Bearing Failure Analysis
- 12:00 pm - Lunch Hour
- 1:00 pm - Bearing Failure Analysis – Cont’d
- 3:00 pm - Coffee Break
- 3:15 pm - RCBFA – Root Cause Bearing Failure Analysis. Hands on case study workshop.
- 4:30 pm - Hand out Certificates of Completion Awards to the class participants.
- 4:45 pm - Day 3 in review – Completion of our Bearing Knowledge Training. End of course comments and/or concerns. Applying what you learned to your job.
